The Legend of María Cacao
In the hidden forests of the Philippines, a generous spirit dwells among the cacao trees.
L egends, like cacao, are made to be shared. Deep in the mountains of the Philippines, among rushing rivers and leafy trees, lies a story passed down through generations: the legend of Maria Cacao , guardian of the forests and the fertility of the land.
The elders say that María Cacao lives in a hidden cave in the mountains, where she tends entire plantations of this sacred fruit. When the rains increase and the rivers overflow, her golden raft descends the waters, laden with cacao to share with those in need. It is said that those who see her pass by and gratefully receive her cacao are blessed with abundance.
But legend also warns that Maria does not tolerate greed or ingratitude. Those who receive her cacao without respect or try to keep more than they need see their fortune disappear. In each cacao bean, her spirit reminds us that true abundance comes from balance, gratitude, and generosity.
🌱 Today, cacao remains a sacred gift. Not only does it nourish us, but it invites us to pause, to be grateful, and to remember that every cup, every bite, is a bridge to the earth and its ancestral energy.
With love and cacao,
Maria Cacao 🤎
